2008 Presidential Voter Turnout
In 2008 the United States elected its first-ever African American president. In this map, we look specifically at the state of Colorado’s 2008 voting trends and demographics. The top layer uses a blue color progression to tell the story of Democratic voter distribution; while the layer below shows the same story for Republicans in red. We have applied transparency to these two layers to show where Colorado voting is dominated by Democrats, Republicans or is more balanced (look for the shades of purple). Several census base layers show how income and demographics influence voter turnout as well as their choice of political party.
